What Makes This Recipe Special
Simple Cooking Tips
- Shake the basket halfway through cooking to prevent sticking and promote browning.
- Avoid overcrowding the basket to allow hot air to circulate properly around each tot.
Step 1
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Toss in the asparagus and let it cook for about 5 minutes until tender. Drain and let it cool enough to handle, around 5 minutes.
Step 2
In a large bowl, mix the cooled asparagus with the breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. Use your hands to knead everything together until it forms a dough-like mixture. Take about a tablespoon of the mixture and shape it into little tots. Set them on a plate and keep going until you’ve used it all. Pop the tots into the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up.
Step 3
When you’re ready, preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Give the basket a quick spray with nonstick cooking spray so the tots don’t stick. Arrange the tots in the basket, making sure they’re not crowded, and spray the tops lightly with cooking spray as well. Cook them for around 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through so they get crispy all over.
Step 4
Once they’re golden and crisp, they’re ready to enjoy!
