Why This Recipe Is So Enjoyable
Tips For Better Flavor
- Spray the strips lightly with oil to help them brown evenly.
- Avoid overcrowding the basket to allow hot air to circulate well and cook the strips thoroughly.
Step 1
Spread the flour out on a large plate. Crack the eggs into a shallow bowl and beat them lightly. In another shallow bowl, mix together the bread crumbs with garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, black pepper, chili powder, and salt.
Step 2
Take each imitation chicken strip and coat it first in the flour, then dip it into the eggs, and finally roll it in the seasoned bread crumb mixture. Set the coated strips aside on a plate while you get the air fryer ready.
Step 3
Preheat your air fryer to 500°F (260°C). Once hot, arrange a single layer of the coated strips in the basket. Give them a quick spray with cooking spray to help them crisp up.
Step 4
Cook the strips for about 6 minutes, then open the fryer and carefully flip them over using tongs. Cook for another 4 to 6 minutes, or until they’re golden and crispy all over. Enjoy!
