Ingredients
- 2 apples, cored
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or more to taste
- 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
Why This Recipe Is So Tasty
Cooking Techniques
- Cook the bacon slowly to render out the fat without burning it.
- Toss the apples in bacon fat for extra flavor before baking or sautéing.
Step 1
Build a campfire and letting it burn down until you have a nice bed of coals. Once the coals are ready, rake them to one side to create a flat, hot spot. If you’re using a grill instead, just get it preheated and ready to go.
Step 2
Place the apples in a loaf pan. In a small bowl, mix together some brown sugar and cinnamon, then spoon that mixture into the center of each apple.
Step 3
Put the pan over the coals or on the grill and let the apples cook for about 3 minutes. After that, carefully take the pan off and sprinkle crispy bacon pieces over the apples.
Step 4
Pop the pan back over the heat for another 5 minutes or so, until everything is warmed through and the flavors have melded together. Serve warm and enjoy!
