What Makes This Dish So Tasty
Helpful Tips For Cooking
- Cook the eggs to your preferred doneness, whether that’s sunny-side up, over easy, or fully cooked.
- Toast the buns lightly to add a bit of crunch and prevent them from becoming soggy.
Step 1
Lightly heat your grill to medium-high and give the grates a quick brush with some oil so the burgers don’t stick. Divide the beef into four equal patties and season them well with salt and pepper on both sides. While the grill is heating up, cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat, turning it now and then until it’s nice and crispy, about 10 to 12 minutes. Once done, drain the bacon on some paper towels.
Step 2
In the same pan, add a bit of olive oil and sauté the onion slices over medium-high heat until they’re soft and a little caramelized, around 5 to 7 minutes. Set those aside for later. Now, grill your patties for about 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until they’re cooked how you like. When they’re almost done, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and let it melt for a minute.
Step 3
While the burgers finish up, crack the eggs into a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook them until the edges start to look set, then cover the pan, turn the heat down to low, and let the whites finish cooking through, which should take about 4 minutes. To build the burgers, start with the bottom buns, add the cheesy patties, then top each with a fried egg, two slices of bacon, some sautéed onions, a smear of mayo, and finally the top bun. Serve right away and enjoy!
