Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1 spaghetti squash
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg, or to taste
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon, or to taste
- 2 apples, peeled and thinly sliced
Why You'll Keep Making This
Cooking Tips You Should Know
- Use fresh cinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon for a more intense flavor.
- Toss the apple slices gently to keep them from breaking apart during cooking.
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray. To make cutting the spaghetti squash easier, pop it in the microwave for about a minute. Then, slice it in half and scoop out the seeds. Place the squash halves cut-side down on the baking sheet.
Step 2
Bake the squash for around 30 minutes until it starts to soften. Carefully flip the halves over using tongs. Drop a tablespoon of butter into each cavity, sprinkle some brown sugar on top, and dust with a bit of nutmeg and cinnamon. Fill the centers with sliced apples.
Step 3
Put the squash back in the oven and bake for another 30 to 40 minutes, until the apples are tender. When it’s done, scoop out the squash strands with a fork and serve them over the warm apple filling. Enjoy!
