Why This Dish Is Worth Trying
Simple Cooking Tips
- Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor.
- Toast the bread lightly for extra crunch and to prevent sogginess.
Step 1
Stir the yeast, sugar, and warm water in a jar. Give it a good stir, cover it, and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes until it gets bubbly and frothy.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and your yeast mixture. Mix it together and knead until you get a soft, smooth dough. Add the oil and knead a bit more. Cover the dough with cling wrap and let it rest for about an hour.
Step 3
While the dough is rising, heat some oil in a pan. Sauté the chopped garlic for about a minute, then add the onions and cook until they’re soft, about 1-2 minutes. Toss in the ground chicken and cook until it turns white.
Step 4
Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Stir in the chopped capsicum and cook for another minute. Then add the cheese and mayonnaise, mix everything well, and turn off the heat. Set this filling aside to cool slightly.
Step 5
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small balls. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out each ball. Spoon some of the chicken filling in the center, then cut slits along the sides and braid the dough over the filling to seal it in.
Step 6
Place your braided bread on a baking tray. Brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle some black seeds (like nigella or sesame) on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Step 7
Let the sandwich cool a bit before serving, and enjoy it with your favorite sauce!
