Why This Meal Is A Winner
Smart Cooking Tips
- Chill the dough before baking to help the bars hold their shape.
- Avoid overbaking to keep the bars soft and chewy rather than dry.
Step 1
Cream together the brown sugar and butter in a large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy—this should take about three minutes. Then stir in the vanilla extract until everything is well combined. Next, add the flour little by little, alternating with the condensed milk, and mix until you have a smooth dough. Fold in 2 cups of chocolate chips.
Step 2
Line a 9x11-inch baking pan with parchment paper, then spread the cookie dough evenly in the pan using a spatula. Cover it with plastic wrap and pop it in the fridge for at least three hours to firm up.
Step 3
While the dough is chilling, combine the peanut butter and the remaining 2/3 cup of chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it in the microwave for about 45 seconds, stirring until it’s melted and smooth. Pour this chocolate peanut butter mixture over the chilled dough, spreading it out evenly.
Step 4
Put the pan back in the fridge for another hour to let the topping set before slicing and serving.
