What Makes This Recipe So Great
Best Cooking Tips
- Chop the halva finely so it blends well into the crumble topping.
- Bake until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender but not mushy.
Step 1
Lightly heat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease an 8 or 9-inch baking dish. In a bowl, toss the apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until everything is nicely coated. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared dish.
Step 2
Combine the halva, oats, flour, and a pinch of salt, mixing until it forms a crumbly topping. Sprinkle this crumble evenly over the apples. To keep the topping from browning too fast, cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil.
Step 3
Pop it in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbly and the topping has a nice golden color underneath the foil. Once it’s out of the oven, let it cool a bit so the topping can set up before serving.
