Why This Recipe Is So Easy To Love
Tips For Better Flavor
- Don’t overcook the fish; salmon is best when it flakes easily but is still moist inside.
- Let the salmon rest for a few minutes after cooking to allow the juices to redistribute.
Step 1
Place the salmon fillets in a bowl. In another bowl, mix together the soy sauce, lemon juice, half of the chopped onion, the onion slices, chopped garlic, and a bit of black pepper. Pour this marinade over the salmon, then add the remaining chopped onion, minced garlic, and some garlic-pepper seasoning on top. Cover the bowl and pop it in the fridge to marinate for 12 to 15 hours, flipping the fish halfway through so both sides soak up the flavors.
Step 2
When you’re ready to cook, fire up your grill to high heat and give the grate a quick oiling to prevent sticking. Lay the salmon directly on the grill or on cedar planks if you have them, and pile the marinated onion slices over the top. Let the salmon cook until it’s nicely browned, about 8 to 10 minutes, then turn the heat down to medium-low and cook a little longer—3 to 5 minutes—until the fish flakes easily with a fork. Enjoy!
