What Makes This Recipe Unique
Tips From The Kitchen
- Steam the broccoli lightly before grilling to keep it tender but still crisp.
- Butter the bread evenly to get a golden, crispy crust without burning.
Step 1
Melt a tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Toss in the broccoli and onion, cooking them until they’re nice and soft, which should take about five minutes. Once done, take the skillet off the heat and let the veggies cool a bit.
Step 2
Spread the sautéed broccoli and onion evenly over two slices of bread. Lay two slices of Cheddar cheese on top, sprinkle a little garlic powder for some extra flavor, and then place the remaining bread slices on top to make your sandwiches.
Step 3
Melt another tablespoon of butter in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Swirl the pan so the butter coats the surface evenly. Carefully place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until the bottom bread turns a lovely golden brown, about five minutes.
Step 4
Now, add the rest of the butter to the skillet. Flip the sandwiches gently, making sure the bread gets coated with the melted butter. Keep cooking for another two to five minutes, until the other side is golden and the cheese inside is melted and gooey. Enjoy!
