Why This Recipe Is So Flavorful
Tips For Perfect Results
- Use a grill pan or outdoor grill for a smoky, charred flavor.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing to keep it juicy.
Step 1
In a bowl, mix the chicken with yogurt, salt, pepper, paprika, cumin seeds, coriander powder, chili powder, chili flakes, chaat masala, and oregano. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
Step 2
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan, add the chopped garlic, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Then add the marinated chicken and cook for 10-15 minutes until it’s cooked through.
Step 3
Toss in the chopped tomatoes, capsicum, and onions. Stir everything together and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Then turn off the heat and set it aside.
Step 4
Heat a griddle with about half a teaspoon of oil and toast the pita or shawarma bread on both sides until golden and slightly crispy.
Step 5
On a baking dish, spread mayonnaise evenly over one piece of the toasted bread. Add a good amount of the chicken mixture, then sprinkle some cheese on top. Place the second piece of bread over it. Spread tomato paste, add more cheese, chili flakes, oregano, capsicum, and olives on top.
Step 6
Bake everything in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 10 minutes until the cheese melts and everything is warm.
Step 7
Serve hot and enjoy!
