Ingredients
- 5 ounces extra-firm tofu
- 1 tablespoon grill seasoning (such as Montreal Steak Seasoning®)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Why This Dish Is Worth Trying
Tips For Perfect Results
- Let the tofu sit in the marinade for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Cook over medium heat to get a nice crispy crust without burning.
Step 1
Start by gently pressing the tofu to get rid of as much water as you can. Then, rub the grill seasoning all over the block so it’s nicely coated. Pop the tofu into a resealable bag and stick it in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or even overnight if you have the time.
Step 2
When you’re ready, take the tofu out and let it thaw on the counter until it’s soft enough to slice. Cut it in half lengthwise, then put the pieces back in the bag. Drizzle in some olive oil, seal it up, and give the bag a little rub to make sure the tofu gets evenly coated with the oil and seasoning. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to soak up the flavors.
Step 3
Heat up a griddle or your outdoor grill to medium. Place the tofu steaks on there and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until they get nice and crispy. Flip them over and cook the other side the same way. Serve warm and enjoy!
