What Makes This Recipe So Good
Cooking Tips
- Don’t overmix the batter once you add the cocoa to keep the swirls distinct.
- Gently swirl the two batters with a skewer or knife for a marbled effect without blending them completely.
Step 1
In a large bowl, beat the butter until it’s soft and creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Step 2
Mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until everything is smooth.
Step 3
Gradually add the flour and baking powder, stirring until just combined.
Step 4
Divide the batter into two bowls. In one bowl, mix in the cocoa powder and a little milk until smooth.
Step 5
Pour a layer of the plain batter into your baking tin, then add a layer of the chocolate batter. Keep alternating layers until all the batter is used.
Step 6
Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the batters together for that marbled effect.
Step 7
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool before slicing.
Step 8
Enjoy a slice with your favorite cup of tea!
