Ingredients
- nonstick cooking spray
- ¼ pound bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 9 ounces ground chorizo
- ½ pound frozen bite-size potato nuggets (such as Tater Tots®)
- 1 stalk celery, sliced
- ¼ cup water
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic base (such as Better Than Bouillon® Roasted Garlic Base)
Why This Recipe Is So Good
Cooking Techniques
- Chop the chorizo and bacon into small pieces so they cook thoroughly and mix well with the tots.
- Stir the mixture halfway through cooking to promote even browning and prevent sticking.
Step 1
Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (190°C) and give it a couple of minutes to warm up. Lightly spray a 7-inch springform pan with cooking spray so nothing sticks. Toss the Tater Tots® into the air fryer basket and cook them for about 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to help them cook evenly.
Step 2
While the tots are cooking, crisp up the bacon in a small skillet over medium-high heat—it should take around 5 minutes. Once the bacon is nice and crispy, add the chorizo and sliced celery to the pan and sauté everything together for another 3 minutes. Drain off any extra grease when you’re done.
Step 3
When the tots are ready, transfer them to a mixing bowl. Pour the bacon and chorizo mixture over the tots, then add the water, egg, and garlic base. Stir everything well so the tots are evenly coated. Pour this mixture into your prepared springform pan.
Step 4
Turn the air fryer down to 320°F (160°C), then place the pan inside. Cook for about 7 minutes, checking to see if the dressing is set. If it needs a little more time, pop it back in for another 3 minutes until it’s cooked through.
